Tell us about your church:
JOURNEY Church began in 2006 - with the mission to help people REACH OUT and GROW UP. Currently, we have two campuses in Raleigh and A LOT of volunteers and team members who are passionate about serving Christ and reaching families!

Our JourneyKidz Community is an ever growing community of kids, parents, and volunteers with a passionate drive to help kids build a relationship with their Creator.

We want them to KNOW that God loves them very much, to KNOW He created them. We want our kids to grow up knowing they can TRUST Him with their lives, families, situations, etc. so that when they reach their teen years, they can LIVE for Him!

Our volunteers are more than volunteers in a church. They are members of a community that work together to reach people (kids!) for Christ. They serve each other and God knowing that the role they play is way bigger than Journey Church - that the church is people, and people have souls that need to connect with God and others.

We are environmentalists - not necessarily the "green kind" - but we are environmentalists in that we believe that a person's upbringing, surroundings, and experiences shape him/her into who he/she will become. Those things will distinguish them from the rest of the world; they will be set apart if they have accepted Christ.

Our goal is to help families raise their kids by partnering with parents, not working against them. We have 40 hours a year with our kids (give or take for vacations/sickness/absences).

What do those 40 hours look like? To put it another way, if you had only 40 hours (one working week) to invest in a person? What would you say that could help them live the other 51 weeks KNOWing who God is, TRUSTing Him completely, to LIVE for Him?

ASSUMPTIVE LENSES

Have you ever been in a situation with someone or a group of people and walked away with a bad taste in your mouth? Then, the next time you see that person or group of people, you associate the previous experience's result with this new and current scenario.

We all do. And that is a problem. It is for me anyway.

When we first meet people we generally sum them up in about 30 seconds. That's why "first impressions" are so important. Everything else gets viewed from that initial 30 seconds. Right… Continue

"He's Alive!" - Sam, age 3

Easter had been on my mind all week. Not just the idea of it. Not just the contemplative reflection, though that came. Rather, the preparation for the worship services on Easter had been on my mind all week. I wanted everything to be set and ready so we could come in and focus on one truth: Jesus is alive!

I had the opportunity to be in all three worship services at the NEast campus, and that was awesome! Our kids truly grasped what Easter was all about. For our older kids, it was kind of a dif… Continue

Re-post from Lanny Donoho: PENN SAYS...

Just in case you missed this - or haven't seen it - I highly recommend you check it out.

There is a lot that we could say about it - but the response is bigger than our reaction. What does this do to move us outside of the box we have created (and still are creating at times).

He's speaking truth, right? If we believe it, we believe it. When did we get off course into this idea that we have to befriend… Continue

EXODUS - A QUESTION

I have always liked the book of EXODUS.

I can remember learning about Moses in my little sunday school room nearly 20 years ago. I went home and decided to read the entire book of Exodus (in the revered KJV...sigh...at least it was an Adventure Bible - thanks Zondervan!) which was no easy task for a third grader. I loved it though. I loved the idea of a powerful God delivering His people and showing Himself to be the true God.

I loved that the Hebrews, despite seeing all these things, still co… Continue

It looks like you're a regular Dollar Store shopper....FYI, the dollar store doesn't send broken, open, or returned toys or crafts back to corpo. In fact, what they do, is when they're cleaning up at the end of the day, they grab all the broken, open, or whatever toys and put them in a trash bag. That trash bag goes out back at whatever time it's full or taken out at the end of the day.

Now here's the thing, I don't dumpster dive...but it's good to know that there's a possibility of finding a bunch of unused toys somewhere.

Essentially, it costs more so send stuff back than to just toss it. So maybe if you can make nice with your local dollar store manager, they'll save you the trouble of rummaging through whatever else may be living in their dumpster.

Just and FYI.

Well hello Aaron! My name is Dennis and I just found out about CMC a few weeks back and had to join. I am looking to meet good people who work with kids. My business and Ministry is theming Children's Churches and providing props and banners of any size for the Ministry. If you are interested, I would like to invite you to drop by my site and view some pictures of my work. I would be honored to be used as a resource in the future. If I can help you with anything, please let me know. Blessings to you!
