"How Are You Doing That"? A Step by Step guide to effective Bible Clubs in America's Public Schools

"How Are You Doing That"?--by Robert C. Heath

Since 1963 many of us have believed a lie. That lie is that the Bible and prayer have been removed from America’s public schools.

That simply isn’t true!

As a result many have written off America’s public schools as “God forsaken places”, but the truth is that God is alive and well in America’s public schools. In this book you’ll learn how you can be a significant part in breathing life into OUR schools.

“Now more than anytime in the history of this great nation, our public schools are a mission field ripe for the harvest. The sharing of our faith in the public sector is legal in our nation and it is required in His Kingdom.”

— Finn Laursen,
Executive Director,
Christian Educators Association Int.

Struggling With Humility? Work with Children

I have come to believe that people who work with children likely have the healthiest attitude in the body of Christ. If they don’t, they haven’t worked with kids very long. I have discovered that the longer I work with them and the more I think I know about what works or what is effective, the less I know.

I remember telling parent sponsors and team members that “churchy” sounding music won’t work in Kids for Christ. Then I was a guest speaker at another school across town in their Bible Club,… Continue

ALWAYS PREACH THE GOSPEL; WHENEVER POSSIBLE, TEXT THE MESSAGE

On April 23 the students in the high school Bible club “Fuse” had the first of two very unique messages. Bob Heath, founder of Kids for Christ USA, had a crazy idea, one of those that are “so crazy they just might work”.
“The idea was to get all the students to join a ‘text group’ for… Continue

The God Box 2009

For those of you who don’t know me, or know me that well, I represent Kids for Christ USA. KFCUSA is a ministry that assist students and parents in planting and facilitating Bible clubs in the public Elementary and Jr. High Schools. (Now we even work with a couple of High Schools.) In a nutshell, we network with people of all segments of “The Body of Christ” to be the ultimate resource for parents/students who wish to plant Bible clubs in the public schools.

Bible Clubs which… Continue

For Crying Out Loud Man, Don't Over Think It.

“…those who are led by the Spirit of God are son of God.
—Rom 8:14

About twelve years ago a close friend of mine made a very interesting and even more profound statement to me. He said, “Bob, why do you make hearing from God so difficult? It should be as natural as breathing.” As I sat in there in Bill & Ruth’s Submarine Sandwich Shop in Tulsa, OK I think someone could have shoved a whole foot long sub into my mouth it was hanging open so wide.

When I finally mustered the courage to speak… Continue

Excerpt of my Book: How Are You Doing That?

“Mom! Dad! Wake up!” These words boom out of your child’s mouth as he races into your bedroom. “Please get up!” Your son gently nudges your side and pushes into your arm. “You’ve got to get me to school early today!” Your eyelids slowly open and your eyes start to focus. You’re shocked with what you see first. Your son is already dressed for school and is even holding your car keys! “It’s Kids for Christ day,” he says emphatically. “And I don’t want to miss it!”

Does such a scene sound impossib… Continue

I will be checking out your website b/c I have just moved down to Tampa from the Bible Belt (Ms) where the Bible was ever present and the faculty and staff were not afraid to step out and say "Yes we are!" It is very different here and there is NO Bible club in the schools here and that is something that I want to take on for the upcoming school year. I was very involved with "First Priority" in Ms and knew the ins and outs of that program. So, I may hit you up for advice very soon. Thx!
